What You Need to Know About Windows 7 Professional x86 DVD English ISO 38

Hey folks, this is Zack with your hot-off-the-press instructable. I'm doing this so that I can use my awesome laptop for sending commands to BeagleBoard. At the end are some cool links. This instructable will guide you in the installation of a virtual machine and the installation of a second operating system, in this case--Ubuntu (Linux). This is a very basic tutorial and is made for folks who aren't comfortable yet with VM's. There's a lot of hand-holding...which is what I needed the first time I did this.First, a very very brief description of a virtual machine. A virtual machine is a program which simulates a completely independent computer with its own inputs, networking, memory, hard and optical drives, and so forth. It uses the hardware and parts of the system resources of your current machine. This is handy if you want to have a single computer for doing all the wonderful things windows is good for AND for doing hardware development or other advanced things that Windows is not good for.The steps:1) Install a virtual machine2) Install an operating system on the virtual machine3) Execute commands on the operating system on the virtual machineWhat you will need:1) A computer2) An internet connection3) A little patience4) Windows 7 (though this process can be done on most OS's, this tutorial is for W7. XP, 8 and mac may follow)This process is totally free. No bucks required.

Right on!! This worked great! you have no idea how many times I tried to load Linux debian on my windows machine and make dual boot. Uggg not pretty at all. This was a great option and it work great. Thank you

Microsoft released Service Pack 1 (SP1) for Windows 7 in February 2011 , this service pack contains all accumulated updates released since Windows 7 RTM release. You need to download and run Service Pack 1 (or through Windows Updates) to update your Windows 7 to the latest Win7 SP1 after clean windows install, are you still trying to slipstream SP1 into Windows 7 installation DVD? Not required now! As you can now download Official Windows 7 integrated with SP1 ISO images directly from Digital River Servers, FYI, Digital River is Microsoft official online distributor partner.

Does these .iso images are updated daily with the latest Windows Updates? I mean, if i download and install one of them now will windows have to download updates since SP1 was released or will it be fully updated up to today?

So say i have a computer missing install disks that i want to add a fresh HDD to and I also have a windows 7 key that came with the computer. Will I be able to use this ISO to reinstall windows on the new harddrive?

When I originally purchased Windows 7, I purchased Home Premium. I purchased the anytime upgrade to Windows 7 Ultimate which I installed. Some time after obtaining service pack 1, I had to reinstall. I tried to reinstall directly from the Window 7 ultimate iso/dvd I was informed that I could not activate because my upgrade Key would not work on the clean install even though my license entitles me to windows 7 ultimate.

I think you can get rid of the BOOTMGR IS MISSING and avoid having to boot to the Windows 7 disc and do the repair. There could be 2 reasons why you get this. I noticed that you are only applying 1 .WIM file to the PC and doing it as your C. What I have found with Win 7 is if you build it from scratch and blow away all partitions on the drive that Windows will create a 100mb C drive and a D drive where everything else goes. This C and D is only visible in WinPE and in Diskpart as partitions, inside the real Windows the D is visible as your C. Whenever we applied a Win 7 image to an old XP machine we would get the bootmgr is missing error and have to resort to the Win 7 disk to fix it just like you seem to have to do. This could be because of that 100mb system partition. If you have multiple PCs you can test this by booting them all into WinPE (an XP, Win 7 purchased, and Win7 built from scratch) and you are likely to see many different types or partitions if you do DISKPART, Select Disk 0, Detail disk and just compare. In my environment we always blew everything away and started from scratch when installing Win 7 in the drive options page. Finally we realized that just as you capture an image of your main OS partition you could also capture an image of the 100mb system partition and apply it down as well. So we began Sysprepping and capturing the C drive as a .WIM and also our D drive as the main OS .WIM. Then when building a new PC we simply apply both. After both images have applied if we reboot we still get the BootMgr is Missing error and we would have to resort to the installation disk. If we apply the image and then type bcdboot.exe d:\windows (or C in your case) when the PC boots it will give you the Dual Boot option. Click Enter on the first one and the OS will load as it normally does. Then click the START button and type MSCONFIG in the text box, go to the Boot tab(2nd one) and remove the 2nd entry that just says C:\ or D:\ Leave the Entry that says C(or D):\Windows (current os : Defualt OS). Then on reboot the Dual Boot option is gone and windows will boot successfully. So you might try just doing the bcdboot step after your image and see if that stops you from having to do the Repair. If it works then you can ignore all the mumbo jumbo about the 100mb system reserve. If you still have to do the start up repair then Windows may be applying that for you behind the scenes so the next time you sysprep a machine you might try capturing that as a WIM as well as your OS partition. Then when applying an image you can use DISKPART commands to create partitions and assign letters so that your machine boots perfectly after the image is applied.

However, if it is an OEM license, you cannot move it to a new computer. These licenses are non-transferable. If you want to install Windows a new computer, you will have to purchase another copy of the Windows 7 professional.

Failure to activate your copy of Windows 7 leaves you with a somehow usable but annoying Windows 7 professional. After the 30-day free trial period, Windows 7 will constantly prompt you to enter a valid product key to activate.
